USA Network Synopsis
When Birkoff is rewarded with two months' downtime, in preparation for
leaving on his much-needed vacation, he creates an Artificial Intelligence
program to take over in his absence. But when a mission goes critical,
Birkoff's downtime is rescinded and he is forced to remain with Section.
The A.I., now thinking on its own, picks up on Birkoff's frustration and
disappointment and triggers Section One's self-destruct mechanism in an
effort to convince Operations to give back Birkoff's downtime. Now it's
up to Michael, Nikita and Birkoff to outwit the A.I. before Section One
and everyone inside it are destroyed.
My Synopsis
"Birkoff dies!" Okay, I've cried during three LFN episodes, but this one
made me BAWL!!! I can't even watch it anymore. During screen captures, I
sobbed my head off. I could hardly see the screen, so I got a bunch of
blurry images. *shakes head* I can see the reasoning for killing Birkoff
(to bring in Jason, even though he was a much stupider character), but
it was Birkoff!!! And I hated what they did to him in the beginning of
the episode, snarking at Walter. I felt so bad. But Ops and Maddy were
actually written well, saddened by the death of Birkoff. The darkening
of the Perch was a nice touch at the end. Overall, I don't know if I can
ever watch this one again (twice is enough!), but I still liked it. But
I'd like to complain about someone on the LFN staff. The scene where the
bio-containment doors drop on Ops and Maddy in the Perch is the same
footage used in "Inside Out." Don't believe me, watch it again. Maddy
isn't even there, and I've seen IO enough times to recognize every
scene. And when the doors go back up, it's the same footage run backwards.
*shakes head* I guess it's expensive to drop doors from the ceiling or
something. Grr...
