USA Network Synopsis
Birkoff discovers that a terrorist group is using a code to tunnel into a
Defense Department satellite and use it for seemingly unrelated terrorist
attacks. The code must be broken in order to stop further attacks, but the
NSA and even Birkoff are unable to decode it. Section kidnaps a brilliant
but cocky young mathematician to solve the problem, but his uncontrollable
nature poses a threat to the mission, Section, and ultimately, his own life.
My Synopsis
"Meet Greg Hillinger, who will go on to do many things in Section--and none
of them good." This was one of the early episodes I saw, and it amused me.
Although it was still amusing to me a year later, I can't say it's a really
good episode. I liked it though. Maddy had this whole attitude going on,
like 'Oooh, a teenager, can't wait to break him!' The snarking between
her and Nikita was, I think, abeyance-worthy, but Maddy let her off the hook
again. 'You just go home and lay in bed and hope people screw up!' was the
essence of it, heehee. As for Ops, well, he just couldn't catch a break.
Hillinger picked on him throughout, challenging his leadership. Of course,
that was not nearly as bad as poor Birkoff, Nikita's favorite overachiever,
who just couldn't stand the pesky teen (neither can my mother). I love how
they resolved the situation with Hillinger, but I could never tell if he was
glad to be there or not (nor could I tell if Ops was; when Maddy mentioned
how perfect of a match he is to Section, he didn't seem too happy).
Favorite Operations Quote
"Another day at the office."
