USA Network Synopsis
Nikita's time in Section One has come to an end. Oversight has implemented a new test program to release operatives into the outside world, and Nikita will be the first to go. However, Nikita suspects it is either a mission or she is being set up by Operations ... that is, until George makes an unexpected visit. Under threat of cancellation, he demands she return to Section One and assassinate Operations. Reluctantly, she does return, but before she can follow through with the assignment, she discovers information about her recruitment that could shatter her world.
My Synopsis
"Nikita begins the long, drawn-out search for her father." Yes, this is the episode that started it all, Nikita's fascination with the truth about her father. My question is: if she didn't care about her dad before, and it became obvious that "George" had lied about it, why does she continue to care? Because Madeline told a little white lie to save Ops's life? I liked this episode in a way, but it was also really frustrating. When I watched it, I realized that I had forgotten everything that had happened, so it was exciting to see it again. But by the end, I was answering Ops's statement "Now it all makes sense" with "No, it doesn't!" A couple of Maddy musings: I think the quote below was fake, simply something Madeline said to draw the truth out of Nikita because, let's face it, that's one of the dumbest statements of the century. 'Yeah, I've been in love, but when it comes to being with the man of my dreams or living a life of freedom, I choose freedom!' Noooooo. Which is why Nikita's snarky "Then you've never really loved before" statement was one of the few times I've agreed with SpyGirl. This episode was confusing on so many levels, I hardly know what to say. There was a fake George that was ordering Nikita to kill Operations, which is nice for the real George but not so good for Oversight. Ops would be good to destroy it; obviously, if a clone can get in and take over for a few days, they need some new leadership. And the mole on the inside was written to seem like Madeline, or at least that's what I saw. It was like TET again; she was helping him, but she was really hurting him. It wasn't Michael; he didn't even make the tag sequence (thank you, thank you, thank you--having him in the tag would've been really stupid since he was hardly in the episode). But the way it seemed--Madeline just "showing up" when Nikita was about to pull the trigger both times was a little convenient. How on earth did she know that Nikita's assassination attempt had anything to do with SpyGirl's father? (Just a lucky guess?) And to not confront Nikita about the gun in her pocket that was so clear on her monitor (did anyone else think that was amusing? the digital Nikita even had the same hairstyle!)... That was just odd. And then the writer made it seem like Madeline was warming up to Michael to get in with him in case Nikita failed. Very interesting. Of course, this has nothing to do with the rest of the series, but it would've made for some cool season finale material! Eh, enough babbling, on with the screen caps :)
Favorite Madeline Quote
"I understand love, Nikita. But would I risk my freedom for it, knowing
full well the consequences? I don't think so."
