USA Network Synopsis
Section One has been attacking numerous Red Cell substations in order
to draw out Leon, the Red Cell chief strategist who has eluded capture
for years. After Section's latest strike, Madeline believes that one
of the prisoners is Leon, and when a DNA match proves it, she begins
her interrogation process. Unlike previous terrorist subjects, however,
Madeline handles Leon differently, treating him like a guest. This concerns
Operations, who believes that her unconventional methods may backfire.
His fears are confirmed when Madeline gets emotionally involved with
Leon, and attempts to escape Section with him -- killing anyone who
gets in her way.
My Synopsis
"Madeline decides to have 99%-fatal brain surgery to give her emotions
so she can fall in love with a Red Cell operative, and the audience is
left wondering what kind of crack the writer was smoking as he penned
the episode." Ack! I'm so torn! I think the romance between Madeline
and Leon (who was both very attractive and very persuasive) made a lot
of sense--she found her equal, her match, the person who knew her best.
(And you can say she has that with Paul, but she and Leon do the same
thing, act the same way; they are true equals.) However, she has already
proven that she can fool the best (George in TET, for one), so why would
she need brain surgery? Whether or not she had really lost control is
still up in the air. *shakes head* It's unfortunate that the only other
heavily-centered Madeline episode was so confusing. I still liked the
episode because it was all Madeline, but the plot itself was weird and
it was cut oddly.
Other Intel
*Her incredibly uncomfortable shoes provided the inspiration for Alberta's
crying scene :)
Favorite Madeline Quote
"My job? I'm sorry, Paul. There's more to my life now than my job.
My resignation."
