USA Network Synopsis
Section seeks to eliminate a powerful businessman who acts as an industrial
supplier to numerous terrorist groups, but the only way to get to him is through
an intermediary, Anagar, a man who provides a unique form of "entertainment"--
female death matches for the very hedonistic rich, using women recruited through
a phony talent agency. Nikita and Michael go undercover at Anagar's facility--
Nikita as one of the recruits, and Michael as one of the rich businessmen. But
when Nikita is forced to fight to the death against the fiercest woman there,
Michael is helpless to save her.
My Synopsis
"Madeline's distrust of an Oversight bimbo turns into something a bit like jealousy
when Operations takes a less-than-professional interest in her." Since USA did
such a stellar job with the synopsis *rolls eyes* I'll have to fill you in on the
real plot. Renee is sent to Section from Oversight for a
"collateral intel assessment" (sometimes I wonder if they don't stick
words together in the hopes they make sense to somebody). Operations is
overly attentive to the new woman; Madeline is suspicious. He and Renee
become lovers. Using the fact that Renee contacted Oversight without
clearance, Madeline ships her out with a smug expression on her face.
Operations tells her that she acted in violation of protocol, blackmailing
her into joining him in the Tower. (Fortunately, this is all related
to the events that unfold in "Three Eyed Turtle.") So there's the real
plot. Now I liked this episode (both plots, actually--call me crazy).
It reminded me of what happened in "Not Was," with Operations
being jealous over Russell. It was nice to see how they each handled
the other lovers (or whatever you want to call them--they seemed to be
pawns in the Ops/Maddy war of who-gives-in-first). But Operations...
why would you choose someone like Renee over someone like Madeline?
He took a cut in the brains departments. As far as the Nikita
plot goes, I really liked the costumes and the parallel to the betta
splendens (Siamese fighting fish). Someone did their homework. Oh,
and what the heck is the deal with all the fruit on the breakfast
table? Yikes!
Other Intel
*The actress who played Renee, Brioni Farrell, is Gene Glazer's real
life wife. (Lucky girl...) I saw her in "Stark Trek!"
*Cut line for Madeline (to Renee): "I want you out of Section by the
time I count to ten. And I'll be counting by fives."
*Cut line for Renee (to Madeline): "Or, since we both know the real
reason, what's the official reason?"
Favorite Madeline Quote
"Be careful, Paul."
