USA Network Synopsis
When Operations is recalled to Center, he gives Michael temporary command
of Section One. Both Operations and Madeline warn Michael that George will
heavily lean on him to eliminate Bergomi, a powerful terrorist money launderer
that Section isn't yet ready to secure. However, after George gives Michael an
impassioned argument at Oversight, Michael decides to take the risk and pursue
Bergomi anyway. However, the resulting pressure that Michael places upon himself
and everyone else at Section threatens not only his relationship with Madeline,
but more significantly, with Nikita.
My Synopsis
"Michael has that first taste of power, putting him on George's good side and
everyone else's bad side." Hmm. Very interesting, thought-provoking episode,
although still sort of boring. :) I really liked the discussions of power and
control that were featured. Lots of good interactions between Michael and others.
The USA synopsis is interesting; I never really saw this as threatening his
relationship with Madeline, as he didn't really have one to begin with (at least
not a discernable one). Besides, it was obviously a test, so she probably didn't
take anything he did to heart. The episode also showed an interesting relationship
between George and the terrible two (namely, Operations and Madeline). The Siamese
twins comparison is awesome: "they bicker, they squabble, but they never separate."
How true! But it's interesting that George should view Madeline as protecting
Operations, particularly in light of 'Three Eyed Turtle.' We do learn that, according
to Walter, Operations was pretty much the same now as he was before receiving his
'promotion.' Lots and lots of great lines in this one, too; Madeline says, regarding
Michael, "I never thought he could be so reckless," to which Operations replies, "There's
another possibility. He's just better than we are." They both smile, probably thinking
'naaaaah.' heehee. Not much Ops in here, lots of Maddy, and of course plenty of Michael
to make me roll my eyes every few minutes.
