Madeline tucked her hair underneath the scarf. Operations arrived, slowly descending the stairs into her office. "Your escorts are waiting in Van Access."
"I'm ready." She slid on her coat.
"You do realize that I will take any chance I get to come out ahead of Red Cell."
A warning. "And you should."
"But I don't want to sacrifice you." He touched her cheek. "I'll let you know...somehow. But George is still watching."
"And Quinn," she added.
"Yes." He kissed her softly. "Be careful, love. I want you back here with me when it's over."
"So do I."
